Description
The Dell PowerEdge T20 tower can help you get organized with a central storage area for your small business or home network environment. It can also help you share files and collaborate more effectively, eliminating the creation of duplicate files stored on multiple systems. This mini tower can be used as an email, web, or data base server or can be used to store your word documents, image, and DVD files. With its compact size and whisper-quiet acoustics, you can put this system just about anywhere.
Performance
Dell's PowerEdge T20 tower server features Intel's C226 chipset and can support a single Intel Xeon E3-1200 v3 processor or a single Intel Pentium processor. Only three processors are supported, and depending which processor you choose feature integrated Intel HD Graphics P4600 or the Intel HD Graphics 4600. With the Pentium processors only HD video is supported. The Xeon E3-1225 v3 processor supports 4K video. All three processors support a maximum of three displays. Power is provided by a 290W power supply.
MemoryThere are four memory slots on the T20 tower server. With all four memory slots loaded with 8GB DDR3 unbuffered memory modules the system will support a total of 32GB of memory. Memory may operate at speeds of up to 1600MT/s but speed is also dependent on your choice of processor.
Storage
A total of six hard drives can be installed in the PowerEdge T20 server. With the side panel removed, there are two 3.5-inch drive cages located in the bottom of the chassis and two more fitted in the top that can only be accessed by removing the front panel. Two more 2.5-inch hard drives can be added using an optional drive cage that mounts in the optical drive space. There are only four SATA cables, so adding the additional 2.5-inch drives will require the addition of an Intel Rapid Storage Controller 12.0 that supports both software and hardware RAID. The additional 2.5-inch drives will also require an additional power cable and two SATA cables to connect the controller to the HDs. This server will support a maximum of 13TB of storage using four 3TB 3.5-inch drives and two 500GB 2.5-inch drives. An integrated RAID controller offers disk mirroring and striping. Hot swap drives are not supported.
Expansion
There are four expansion slots total: a single PCIe 3.0 slot, two PCIe 2.0 slots, and a legacy PCI slot to support older technology. The PCI slots can be used to support additional NICs, HD RAID controllers, and other options. There are also four USB ports in front, and six in back. It also has a single integrated 1GbE port. Depending on your choice of processor, integrated video is provided by an Intel HD Graphics P4600 or Intel HD Graphics 4600 with two display ports and one VGA port.
